3 For Me

By now many of you may have already completed your 3 hour volunteer pledge to Hayes Elementary. Please fill out the information on the Three for Me Completion form to let us know. We would like to recognize your efforts and dedication!

The Hayes PTSA is implementing a new parent volunteer program this fall, called “Three For Me.” This is a program supported by the National PTA that has been successful for schools across the country. The program’s slogan is “A Little Means a Lot,” and we agree that if everyone does a little to help, great things can be accomplished!

“Three For Me” asks that each and every parent volunteer 3 hours at Hayes during the 2010-2011 school year. The PTA has pledge cards for parents to sign, which is a way to visibly show their commitment to the program.  Cut out your card below and send it back to school with your child. There are also additional pledge cards available on the PTA bulletin board at Hayes inside the front doors to your right.

Once the 3 volunteer hours have been completed, there will be forms on the PTA bulletin board saying “I kept my promise!” We are asking that parents fill it out with their name and a general description of how they helped out. The forms can be returned to school with your child or put in an envelope on the PTA bulletin board. We plan to recognize all “Three For Me” volunteers in the hallways of Hayes.

How Parents Can Complete 3 Volunteer Hours at Hayes:

  • Helping teachers in the classroom
  • Chaperoning field trips
  • Doing lunch count, Thursday folders, making copies for the PTSA
  • Helping on a school grounds clean up day
  • Helping at a PTSA event, such as International Day, Science Fair, Family Fun Nights, Book Fairs, Fall Festival, etc.
  • Helping on a PTA committee like Skate Nights, Spiritware, Dad Initiative, etc.
  • Helping with ASP programs after school

Do you have a full time job and feel like there are not any opportunities for “working” parents? Do you stay at home with small children that doesn’t allow you to get out of the house much? Below is a list of volunteer jobs for working & homebound parents.

  • Translate flyers, articles, website pages from English to Spanish
  • Make phone calls prior to fundraiser pickup day (virtually eliminating forgotten orders)
  • Write articles for monthly newsletter
  • Proofread monthly newsletter and website
  • Bake for luncheons, treats for meetings, etc…
  • Write Thank You notes to volunteers of past events

This short list doesn’t include every opportunity, it’s just intended to get parents thinking about different ways to contribute their time at Hayes.  We are hoping to have 100% parent participation in the “Three For Me” program!
