By now many of you may have already completed your 3 hour volunteer pledge to Hayes Elementary. Please fill out the information on the Three for Me Completion form to let us know. We would like to recognize your efforts and dedication!
The Hayes PTSA is implementing a new parent volunteer program this fall, called “Three For Me.” This is a program supported by the National PTA that has been successful for schools across the country. The program’s slogan is “A Little Means a Lot,” and we agree that if everyone does a little to help, great things can be accomplished!
“Three For Me” asks that each and every parent volunteer 3 hours at Hayes during the 2009-2010 school year. The PTA has pledge cards for parents to sign, which is a way to visibly show their commitment to the program. Cut out your card below and send it back to school with your child. There are also additional pledge cards available on the PTA bulletin board at Hayes inside the front doors to your right.
Once the 3 volunteer hours have been completed, there will be forms on the PTA bulletin board saying “I kept my promise!” We are asking that parents fill it out with their name and a general description of how they helped out. The forms can be returned to school with your child or put in an envelope on the PTA bulletin board. We plan to recognize all “Three For Me” volunteers in the hallways of Hayes.

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Students,
The Hayes Elementary Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) would like to welcome you and wish you a successful upcoming school year. We are excited to be returning to the executive PTSA Board for a second term as Co-Presidents. Last year was a learning and growing experience for us both, and we look forward to continuing to serve our school, parents, teachers, and students. The 2009-2010 school year will be historic for Hayes Elementary. At the end of the last school year, the Cobb County School Board decided to make Hayes Elementary a “school within a school.” The PTSA is excited about and very supportive of the change. We look forward to working with the administrators and teachers for both the Primary and Intermediate schools. There will be a single PTSA serving the entire school. We are confident this will be an outstanding year for the Hayes community.
We encourage all parents to take an active role in the student experience at Hayes. We invite each of you to join and support the PTSA. We have many volunteer opportunities. There is a place for each of you at Hayes, regardless of the amount of time you have to volunteer. We need chairs and committee members for all of the PTSA programs and events. We have plans in place to allow for flexibility in meeting and volunteer times to allow volunteers to serve regardless of their job or family requirements. Also, the PTSA is always looking for new and exciting ways to support the school community at Hayes. This year we would love to see our established programs continue and grow, but we are anxious to create new ways to support Hayes as well. It takes many parents and volunteers to make Hayes the wonderful place it is for our students.
We would like challenge and encourage each of you to find a way to support Hayes. We welcome any suggestions, thoughts, and questions. We love serving Hayes and being a part of PTSA. We, along with each of you, are working toward the same goals to support the student experience at Hayes Elementary.
We look forward to a very exciting and fulfilling year.
Thank you,
Terri Chastain
